When it comes to music, how far are you willing to go in letting it define you? For Sophie Redmond - July's opening act within In The Park -, artistic expression is everything; the following interview is a deep dive into her humble origins to becoming one of Liverpool's most admired musicians. Today, we put the spotlight onto this talented young woman, a woman brimming with passion and modesty, a woman unafraid to share her story and advocate for urban collaboration. And that's not even scratching the surface.

Her initial struggle pursuing music caused Sophie to suffer with her mental health, balancing music with other life responsibilities; now, Sophie is an university student studying an undergraduate combined degree of Popular Music and Film Production at University of Liverpool (home to the world’s first specialist centre of the Institute of Popular Music, founded in 1988). Her passion is to convey her vision to not just the city, but perhaps one day the entire country. Sophie's love for pop rock via artists such as Beabadoobee is easily recognisable within her pieces, providing her own artistic flair.

Networking is vital, especially within the musical scene of Liverpool, as artists are constantly competing for local engagement and social media outreach.

Learn how Sophie navigates the current musical landscape while constructing an authentic musical identity.
